This family wanted a refresh on a seldom-used Living Room. We introduced a few gorgeous new pieces of furniture, such as the walnut console and gilded glass cocktail table, while incorporating existing pieces, such as the green velvet camelback sofa, the hand-knotted rug, and, of course, the grand piano. The mural is a custom landscape painted in shades of greige by Susan Harter. We turned a little closet into a useful and decorative architectural feature by designing a cabinet with glass doors, egg knobs, and an authentic parisian cremone bolt. The interesting corner fireplace is original to the turn of the century house, and we washed it in the wall color to clean and modernize. The little 12"x12" encaustic painting near the fireplace is by Boston artist Linda Cordner, and is a part of a collection of nine that are showcased in the adjoining foyer.
